Meet the Team
Mrs Kirsty Taylor – SENDCO
My role in school is to oversee the day-to-day operation of the school’s SEND policy and SEND information report. I support the identification of children with special educational needs and ensure that pupils on the SEND register are effectively supported within school. I work with lots of external agencies to access the correct support specific to the individual needs of the pupil and of course communicate with parents as and when appropriate. I ensure that the school keeps records of all pupils with SEND up to date and monitor that the pupils are being supported appropriately in the classroom whatever their level of need or disability.
Mrs Clare Valpy – Learning Support Assistant for Speech, Language & communication needs and Nurture interventions
My role is to support children with developing their speech and language needs. I work with class teachers and LSA’s to support the delivery of activities provided by the NHS Speech therapists who assess the children in school. I have regular contact with parents to keep them involved in the process and track the children’s progress accordingly.
During the school day I run a variety of nurture themed interventions on a 1:1 basis and in small groups for children who need social and emotional support through playing games, discussion and art activities. As a school we work closely with external agencies to help us identify children who need support and give us guidance on the best way to help our children and families in difficult times.
